"Community Shine" Campaign Launched to Beautify and Preserve Neighborhoods

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

St. George's, Grenada - March 31, 2024

In a concerted effort to enhance the aesthetic appeal and environmental sustainability of local communities, the "Community Shine" campaign has been officially launched. This initiative aims to engage residents in activities that promote cleanliness, beautification, and pride in their communities.

Led by the Grenada Green Group (G3) Inc., in collaboration with the Belmont Foundation, the Government of Grenada and community partners, "Community Shine" seeks to address the ongoing challenge of maintaining the visual charm and cleanliness of neighbourhoods long after initial beautification efforts.

The campaign encourages community members to take ownership of their surroundings by participating in various activities such as:

  • Regular clean-up drives to remove litter and debris from streets, parks, and public spaces.

  • Planting trees, flowers, and greenery to enhance the natural beauty of the area.

  • Collaborative mural painting projects to add colour and vibrancy to neighbourhood walls.

"Community Shine" aims to foster a sense of collective responsibility and pride among residents, motivating them to actively contribute to the ongoing upkeep of their communities. "We believe that every neighbourhood has the potential to shine bright with the collective efforts of its residents," said Ian Blaikie, Secretary at Grenada Green Group Inc. "Through the 'Community Shine' campaign, we hope to empower individuals to take pride in their surroundings and work together to create cleaner, greener, and more vibrant communities."

The campaign will culminate in the recognition of outstanding community efforts through the "Community Shine Awards," which will honour neighbourhoods that demonstrate exemplary commitment to cleanliness and beautification.

Residents are encouraged to get involved in the "Community Shine" campaign by volunteering for clean-up events, participating in beautification projects, and promoting environmental awareness within their communities.
